Heading into the holiday season like the Warriors that we are, New Millennium Secondary School (NMSS) is on track to follow the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) mandate to keep everyone as safe as we can. To us, that means first going the extra mile to keep spirits high, friendships strong, and supporting all of our eligible students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
We know there is so much going on in our nation but please know NMSS loves you and we are here if you need to vent frustration, discuss events, or just be heard. Our Warrior Family is here to provide strength and support!
On-Campus Support
You know it’s our Warrior way to band together and create ways to make life better for everyone. That’s why we are doing everything in our power to make this a simple and supported experience for all our students and families at NMSS. LAUSD has mandated all eligible students need their first vaccination shot by Nov 21 and are to be fully vaccinated by Jan 10 of 2022. The on-campus COVID-19 testing we have offered worked out extremely well for us all, and we are now working out how to get a vaccination site on campus as soon as we can.
Wherever you are on the journey of emotions this pandemic has brought us all, we still want you to know we are here to talk and help in any way we can. “NMSS teachers, staff, and everyone who walks our halls are all in this together, exchanging high-fives as we follow state mandates — doing our part to make life at school and at home as safe as possible,” said NMSS Principal Sam Navarro.

California Governor Newsom in a recent press release stated this: “Vaccines work. It’s why California leads the country in preventing school closures and has the lowest case rates. We encourage other states to follow our lead to keep our kids safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

With all our staff vaccinated and the new measures we are implementing to support our students to receive vaccinations, we are — and have always been — a safe haven for our students. This extends from physical safety to emotional and mental safety. We protect each other, we take time to listen to and hear each other, and we will continue to do so because we are Warriors.
